Vision Statement

Turning It Around envisions communities where youth are safe, families have their basic needs met, and individuals are equipped to lead fulfilling, violence-free lives. We aim to become a nationally recognized leader in community advocacy and support, with a focus on building partnerships that amplify our impact.

Dedicated to advocating for victims of crime and offering community support through outreach initiatives. Founded by Jacquel Brown the organization was born out of personal tragedy and the drive to support others facing similar hardships.

After losing her son, Alexander (affectionately known as Slugger), to murder in September 2012, Jacquel felt compelled to help families and individuals affected by violent crime. Candace Sims, is also a dedicated victims advocate for crime victims, having lost her own son Marcus in 2007 to murder. Together, they have turned their pain into purpose, providing a voice for victims and their families.

At **Turning It Around**, we believe in the power of community, healing, and justice. Our mission is to offer comprehensive support services that empower families who have experienced loss, while actively engaging in crime prevention and advocacy. Through initiatives such as support groups, victim advocacy, and community outreach programs, we aim to create a safer, more connected society

Turning it Around

Reaching our community one child at a time. Being a voice in our communities helping in any way we can.

It's not normal to have to bury your child or a family member. When the situation is unexpected it is very traumatizing.

With death we are to celebrate the life of our loved one, but somehow death of a loved one creeps in and robs us of vitality.

It's time to learn how to "Turn It Around". If you do not deal with grief, it will certainly deal with you. Stages of grief will come in and make you feel like you're losing your mind. It becomes hard to focus, you become depressed, you can't sleep, you can't stop crying, you're miserably angry, then you have to deal with the stupid things people say (meant for good) that (in turn) appears abusive. So, let's talk about.
